Bullock County Begins Electronic Sign-In for Voters
Bullock County officials are introducing a new way of signing in at the polls for the upcoming November election.
They have decided to have voters sign in electronically. Only 29 counties in the state and 33 states currently use the process with iPads. The new system allows voters to present their identification to poll workers who will then verify information in a quicker and more efficient way. Bullock County Probate Judge James Tatum believes the system also ensures that voter fraud won’t be an issue. He says the new system puts the county a step ahead.
“My understanding is that secretary merrill indicated that by 2022 all precincts in the state of Alabama will have an ipad, so they’re moving toward doing away with the manual poll list, says Bullock County Probate Judge James Tatum.
Tatum says poll workers will have printed lists as a back-up while using the new electronic process next month.
