Local grocery stores prepare for new competition

Whole Foods Market in East Montgomery is expected to open November 10th.  It will bring close to 200 jobs to the Capital City.

Along with those jobs, it will also bring new competition to local health-focused grocery stores.

One of those stores is Healthwise Foods.  The store was first opened in 1987.  Co-owner Willard Henson says their market is one that is constantly changing.

“We specialize in service,” he explained, “the world of supplements can be bewildering to a lot of people, we keep a very deep inventory in the area of supplements.”

Henson believes their customers will stick with them even with the new competition in town.
