Tigerettes fall at Montevallo

MONTEVALLO, Ala. (goldentigersports.com) — Rachel Brownlee led four players in double figures and continued her consecutive double-digit scoring streak, but it wasn’t enough to overcome a big deficit in the first half as Tuskegee fell to the University of Montevallo 75-65 at Trustmark Arena Tuesday night.

Brownlee led all scorers with 20 for Tuskegee (1-2), continuing her double digit scoring streak and extending it to 29 as she has hit the mark in every game since early last season. The 20 points is the also the second consecutive game she has reached the mark this season, and including the two exhibition games, it marks the fourth time in five games she has hit the mark. The senior finished 6-of-19 from the floor, and hit six of her eight free throw opportunities on the night. Brownlee also led the team in rebounding with nine.

The senior was joined in double figures by Jamese Abney and Teja Finley with 11 each off the bench, the both time they have both scored in double figures in their career. Taylor Miller has scored in double figures in all five of the games – including exhibition – this season as she chopped in 10 points in the loss.

Tuskegee shot 25.6 (20-of-78) percent from the floor and 30 (9-of-30) percent from beyond the arc. They also shot 66.7 (16-of-24) percent from the free throw line in the loss, while grabbing 52 rebounds.

Montevallo was led by Morgan Smith with a game-high 21, while Haven Albright scored 14 of her 18 points in the first half for the Falcons. Rayvon Christian finished with a double-double for Montevallo (1-0) with 13 points and 17 rebounds, while Alba Perez grabbed 14 rebounds.

The Falcons shot 41.3 (26-of-63) percent from the floor and 23.8 (5-of-21) percent from beyond the arc in the victory. They also shot 69.2 (18-of-26) percent from the free throw line, while grabbing 53 rebounds and blocking six shots.

Tuskegee returns to action on Friday, November 18 on the road at West Georgia.
