Inmate Reported to be Missing, Found Hiding in Prison

A state inmate who reportedly escaped from the Bibb County Correctional Facility in Brent early Monday was found hiding inside the prison.

Prison officials followed protocol by issuing the escape report when Timothy Wayne Johnson, 32, was missing from a housing unit during a mandatory inmate count at 1:30 a.m.

At approximately 9 a.m., corrections officers found Johnson in an unauthorized area of the facility.  The inmate was cooperative and detained without incident.

Johnson is serving a 35-year sentence on a first-degree criminal mischief conviction out of Mobile County.
