Magical Christmas Toy Drive Kicks Off
Alabama News Network is partnering with the Salvation Army to help make Christmas brighter for kids in the River Region.
It’s a project that takes a lot of helping hands.
The Magical Christmas Toy Drive brings hundreds of smiles to children across the River Region, who otherwise may not have gotten anything at Christmas.
And we need your help to make it happen.
“When I was a child, my mother and father would bring me things. Santa Claus would come see me. I don’t know what it would be like to wake up and not have anything there,” said United Food & Fuel sponsor, Ben McNeil.
Thanks to our great sponsors and your donations as well, the toy drive has been a huge success.
Last year, we brought in 200 thousand dollars worth of toys for more than 700 families.
“We thank you from the bottom of our heart, the outpouring has been overwhelming,” said Major Walter Strong with the Salvation Army.
But the need is always growing, and there is always more to be done to help make Christmas special for one more child in the River Region.
“Putting a smile on my children’s face. I just want to see them happy. I feel like I am doing my job as a mother to make them happy,” said mother Shannon Richardson.
