Forecasters: More Rain to Come Across Alabama

ANNweatherauthoritystormThe National Weather Service say parts of drought-plagued Alabama got more than 2 inches of rain, and more is on the way.

Forecasters say storms brought rain to some of the state’s driest areas, with rainfall totals of around 2 inches common in central Alabama. Northeast Alabama got more than 1.5 inches of rain, and northwest Alabama got almost 1 inch.

Precipitation totals were lower in south Alabama, with less than an inch in Mobile and just a trace in Troy.

Alabama Power Co. says as many as 45,000 homes and businesses lost electrical service.

Forecasters as much as 2 inches of additional rain will fall through Wednesday night.

The entire state is locked in a drought, and some areas hadn’t had rain in more than two months.
