Fire Marshal Warns of Christmas Decoration Fire Risks

Fires involving holiday lighting and decorations cause an estimated $8.4 million in direct property damage every year.

Alabama State Fire Marshal Scott Pilgreen says many of these fires are preventable and that everyone needs to take steps to make sure their decorations are safe.  He says that one of the biggest risks is Christmas Trees.

“They can cause a tremendous fire very quickly,” he explained, ” which can involve the entire house in just a very few short minutes.
