Troy University Postcard Exhibit Celebrates State’s History

Troy University officials are celebrating the start of two traveling exhibits, created by those at the Troy University library.

The exhibit highlights historical postcards. The postcards are from cities across Alabama, dating back all the way to the 1890’s and ending in the 1960’s. University officials say the exhibits lead up to the state’s bicentenial celebration. They say it’s something that’s been worked on for quite a while.

“It gives us a chance to share with everybody in the state a collection that they might not otherwise see. We’re hoping to be able to recreate this project but on a regional if not, national level,” says Troy University Library Dean Chris Schaffer.

25,000 postcards are part of the collection.
