Pike County’s New Animal Shelter Accepting Animals
It’s now a little easier for pets in Pike County to find forever homes.
The Pike Animal Shelter is finally accepting animals, now that the city’s pound is closed. Right now, the shelter already has 25 dogs. It includes, medical, observation, and adoption rooms. Once the portion of the facility is complete for cats the shelter will be able to hold at least 100 cats.
“This is wonderful, we have an opportunity to have a facility where the public can come in and visit with the animals and adopt, foster, come volunteer,” says Director Jacqueline Meeks.
Right now, the following is needed at the shelter: Cat food, dog food, cat litter, cleaning supplies. These items can be dropped off at the shelter located at 800 Henderson Highway in Troy.
