Troy University’s Effort to Grow Local Employers
When it comes to building a local employer base, Troy University plays a big part in building relationships with businesses that give students opportunities after college.
Coordinators of the university’s career services department have seen an increase in students getting jobs locally. Attendance tripled at their last career fair with a record number of 65 employers. They say getting students to stay local is their way of allowing the university serve the city of Troy. For former students, the university’s good relationship with local businesses has allowed them them opportunities after college in the area.
“You typically don’t get management experience coming right out of college but i was able to do that. i’ve only been on the job two months and already have someone working for me. it’s just been a good learning experience,” says Austin Steen of Troy Bank and Trust
Troy’s next career fair is set for February 21st. It will focus on students in the computer science field.
