Fraternity to Help Wounded Warriors in “Walk Hard 2017”

Dozens of Troy University student part of Alpha Tau Omega are preparing for a 6 day trek for wounded warriors.

Participants walk from Troy University to Panama City which is a 128.3 mile walk. The annual walk is part of the fraternity’s philanthropy drive. Last year the fraternity had a record number of 30 members participate in the walk. Member say they are already practicing with 5 to 15 mile walks. They say the walk is always a challenging, yet rewarding journey.

“To walk for these men and women, these veterans-you know the father that goes overseas and loses his arm, loses his leg-he will never be able to hold his child again-it’s that kind of thing when you’re walking, you know you can take the next step,” says Philanthropy Chair Ryan Renfrow.

“We’ve done several spirit nights to go ahead and raise funding. Several local restaurants have very been helpful in that, benefiting us that way,” says Alpha Tau Omega President Gus McKenzie.
