Troy University International Student Reports Harassing Note
Tuesday, an unwelcoming note was directed at a Troy University international student.
“He said this is what was found on my car and I immediately felt horrible for him so asked him how he felt,” says Troy University Student Tyler Logan.
For fellow students it’s not something that the university stands for at all. In fact, the support on Logan’s Facebook post is a big indication of that with a 100 shares.
“There are hundreds of students on our campus because it is an international university, who have gotten to know our muslim students, our hindu students, our students from different parts of the world,” says Troy University Professor Joe McCall.
The incident has prompted Professor Joe McCall to start a conversation with other students on how to respond to harassment toward the university’s international population.
“This person should just be our teacher on how to care for each other, accept each other, understand each other, and do the right thing,” says McCall.
This incident comes three weeks after the university addressed how they stand behind all international students, following President Trump’s immigration order.
“It just adds fuel to the fire for some I guess to rise up against whatever they may feel necessary in their hearts,” says Logan.
Students feel it’s unacceptable.
“I just hope someone sheds some intelligence on them just to make them more open to people,” says Logan.
“This behavior is incredibly inappropriate and insensitive,” says McCall.
In a statement released Wednesday, university officials say they take any acts of intolerance or harassment of any student very seriously.
Troy University Police are investigating the incident.
