Fire Destroys Home in Troy
Cassandra Flowers and her family are picking up the pieces of what’s left after their home on South Knox Street in Troy was destroyed by a fire Thursday morning.
“We just left. We weren’t even gone five minutes and I got the phone call that my house was on fire,” says Flowers.
Now, Flowers and her family are trying to figure out what’s next.
“I’m just praying for the best,” says Flowers.
“You could see the blaze coming from the back of the house. the first thing we did was check to make sure there were no kids or anything in there. we still don’t know the cause of the fire but pretty much everything in there is burnt up,” says Yolanda Evans.
Fortunately no one inside of the home at the time of the fire but the house is a total loss.
“Its nothing she can use anymore…beds, TV’s, groceries, the whole refrigerator is burnt, everything gone,” says Evans.
Family members say the fire spread from the home to a family car. Troy fire officials arrived on scene of the fire shortly after eight Thursday morning.
“The location that the fire started is at this time being determined toward the rear of the residence, based on initial observation from the arrival on scene and some other physical evidence,” says Troy Fire Marshal Brandy Cox.
Now, family members are left searching for answers.
“We still don’t know the cause of the fire but pretty much everything in there is just burnt up,” says Evans.
The Troy Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
