Montgomery homicide suspect arrested in Kentucky

Montgomery police say a man wanted for a homicide has been taken into custody in Kentucky.

Police say 35-year-old Javorski Barnes of Montgomery is suspected in the September 27 homicide of 29-year-old Dredrick Stokes of Montgomery. Police say Stokes was shot at around 1:11AM that morning in the 2000 block of Zelda Road, which is near the curve from Ann Street.

Montgomery police had issued a nationwide murder warrant for Barnes’ arrest.

Barnes was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force and is awaiting extradition to Montgomery, police said.
