Jamea McQueen of Percy Julian High School signs to Alabama State for Softball.

McQueen became the first athlete to sign an athletic scholarship under the school’s new name “Percy Julian.”

“This is a historic moment, Percy Julian’s first student-athlete to sign a scholarship. Although the name has changed, we are still producing some of Montgomery’s finest athletes. Jamea has been a joy to coach. Not only is she an athlete, she is a Student-Athlete who has a strong work ethic on and off the field. She was a valuable asset to the team and will continue that success at ASU. We wish her all the best and success in her college endeavors,” says Coach Courtney Martin.

Last season with the Phoenix, McQueen totaled seventy strikeouts and three homeruns.
