21-year-old Troy University student found dead near campus

Troy police say they have launched an investigation into the death of a 21-year-old female Troy University student who was found dead near campus.

Police say they went to a residence in the 500 block of East Street at about 11AM today to conduct a welfare check. That is where they found the student who was unresponsive.

Troy police say they are receiving help from the Troy University Police Department, the Pike County Coroner’s Office, the Pike County District Attorney’s Office and the Alabama Department of Forensic Science.

Police say foul play is not suspected. They have released no other details.
