Wilcox Co. murder suspect makes first court appearance

A Wilcox County man is behind bars tonight — charged in the death of a 21 year old Pine Apple woman.

Sheriff Larry Colston says 24 year old Tyrese Dortch of Camden was arrested for murder on Tuesday.

Dortch made a first appearance in court this morning — and an Aniah’s Law hearing was set for January 22nd.

Dortch is accused in the death of Alexis Thomas. Thomas was found dead at a house near Camden — back in July.

“When the deputies arrived at the scene. They entered the residence. And they found Miss Alexis Thomas had been murdered, shot inside the residence,” said Sheriff Larry Colston.

Dortch is being held at the Prince Arnold Detention Center — without bond.
