Watch: Winter weather impacting roads in our area

Alabama State Troopers are reporting multiple accidents and iced over roads in Central Alabama .

Action 8 News’ Thunder Truck was on the roads early Tuesday morning monitoring conditions, and our field crew witnessed multiple incidents of iced over roads causing accidents.

In the clip above, ALEA State Troopers and a tow truck could be seen recovering a vehicle that lost control on I-65 Northbound near the Verbena exit (200).

ALEA is reporting:

  • U.S. Highway 31 in Chilton County at Alabama 151 is iced over.
  • All overpasses in Chilton County are iced over.
  • Multiple crashes on I-65 between mile marker 198 (Prattville) and Mile Marker 226 (Montevallo/Calera).
  • I-65 is completely iced over and impassable in certain areas.
  • U.S. Highway 82 bridges between mile marker 106 and 107 are iced over.
  • U.S. Highway 280 near County Road 49 in Coosa County is iced over.

Action 8 News will update road closures and hazards throughout the day as new information is released.
