The state is issuing a $250,000 grant to help a company open a plant in Macon County.

Trendco USA is expected to bring nearly 300 jobs. It plans to open a plant in the Regional East Alabama Logistics Park, just off Interstate 85 near Wire Road.

The company makes nitrile gloves used in the medical field.

The Macon County Commission will use the Community Development Block Grant funds to provide infrastructure. The money will construct an industrial access road from REAL Park to the Trendco plant. Additionally, funds will help build a right-turn lane into the industrial park from Alabama Highway 186.

Gov. Kay Ivey announced the grant, which will be administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) and made available by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
