Officials with the school tell Action 8 News that Posey is leaving to take a collegiate-level job. School officials say the specifics of that new job will be announced at a later date.

“My family and I are incredibly grateful for our many years with the Saint James School community. It truly is a special place, and we have greatly enjoyed being part of the Trojan
family. Although we are sad to leave Saint James, we are excited about the opportunity to move into the college coaching world,” Posey said.

Prior to working at Saint James School, Posey was the starting quarterback at Huntingdon College from 2010-2012. After graduation, he began his coaching career at Trinity Presbyterian as the wide receiver and quarterbacks coach.

After graduating with his masters degree from Auburn University at Montgomery, Posey joined Saint James School as the running back, wide receiver and special teams assistant. In 2018, he was promoted to offensive coordinator.

In 2018, he was promoted to offensive coordinator and quarterback coach and again to head football coach in 2023. Under his leadership, the Saint James School offense achieved numerous individual and team career records. In addition to winning the 2022 3A state championship with the top scoring offense in school history, Saint James has been the region champion five of the last eight years and made the state semi-finals the last two years.

In 2019, Posey was named 3A AHSAA Assistant Coach of the Year.

“Coach Posey has been an outstanding member of our Trojan coaching staff for more than nine years,” said Head of School Dr. Larry McLemore. “We are grateful for his leadership and many
contributions to our football program and the whole child development of our student-athletes. We wish him the very best and much continued success in his new role.”

Saint James School said an immediate search for its new head football coach is underway.
