The AHSAA approves 2024-25 & 2025-26 Classification Alignments for Winter Sports

AHSAA

The Alabama High School Athletic Association Central Board of Control has approved the winter sports alignments for 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years.

In accordance with the AHSAA constitution and by-laws, the AHSAA Central Board of Control manages championship play and classification. Member schools are reclassified every two years. The high schools are currently divided into seven classifications (1A, 2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A and 7A) for competition in championship programs.

The realignments for Fall Sports were released in December following the conclusion of the Fall Sports Season. Like Fall Sports, Winter Sports alignments are based on the number of schools that will be participating in the sports for the 2024-25 school year. For the first time alignments have been included for Girl’s Wrestling as a Winter Championship Sport.

The alignments for Spring Sports will be determined after the conclusion of the Spring Sports Season.

Below are alignment changes for schools in the Central Alabama Region.

Basketball:

Trinity Presbyterian will move to 4A from 3A

Indoor Track & Field:

Montgomery Academy will move to 4A/5A from 1A/3A
