8 ON YOUR SIDE CONSUMER ALERT: Kia recalls more than 400,000 SUVs
8 ON YOUR SIDE CONSUMER ALERT: Kia is recalling more than 427,000 of its SUVs because they can roll away while in park.
The vehicles involved are 2020-2023 Kia Telluride SUVs, along with some 2024 Telluride models.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says a main component of the SUV’s steering wheel may not have been put together properly.
Owners are asked to take their SUV to a Kia dealer to have updated electronic parking brake software installed. Kia will reimburse you for the repair.
Letters will go out to owners starting on May 15.
Owners are advised to manually engage the emergency parking brake prior to exiting the vehicle until the recall remedy is performed.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to: www.nhtsa.gov
