Memorial held for Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Jermyius Young
A celebration of life memorial was held Thursday evening for Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy Jermyius Young, who was killed a wreck.
Young died Friday, April 5, after crashing his patrol vehicle on Hobbie Road while on duty two days earlier. He was 21 years old.
At the memorial outside the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on S. Perry Street, balloons were released. In addition, a vehicle remains parked in memory of Young and will be on display until 5PM Sunday. The public is invited and can leave flowers and cards.
Young’s funeral will be Monday, April 15, at the Church of the Highlands on Taylor Road. Visitation will be from 10AM-12PM, with the funeral immediately following. Burial will be in the Alabama Heritage Cemetery on Atlanta Highway.
Gov. Kay Ivey has directed that flags be flown at half-staff on Monday in Young’s memory.
