At the AHSAA State Tennis Tournament both junior Gabby Barrera and senior Mae Mae Voltz brought state titles back to Montgomery Academy.
Barrera who has already won singles once before in her high school career clinched her second singles title along with a doubles title, which she did with the help of her teammate Mae Mae Voltz.
“Singles it was definitely tough, I played one of my close friends and barely made it out alive, but I won again. And then me and Mae Mae absolutely killed it in doubles, I will proudly say that me and Mae Mae absolutely played insane in doubles,” says Barrera.
While Barrera will have one more year to try and claim another state title, Voltz was happy to finish up her high school career with her second state title. Voltz won singles last season.
“It was just a moment that just brought us closer together and it was really happy for us and it was just a fun moment that we’ll always remember,” says Voltz.
