Strong to severe storms possible Thursday and Thursday night
Strong to severe storms remain possible Thursday and Thursday night. A tornado watch continues for part of our area until 4PM Thursday. Damaging wind, hail, and a couple tornadoes are the main hazards Thursday afternoon. We may see a lull in showers and storms during the late afternoon and early evening. However, additional storms appear likely late Thursday evening and Thursday night.
An organized cluster of storms, or Mesoscale Convective System (MCS) may develop to our west Thursday evening. It may race west to east across our area Thursday night. Damaging wind gusts could be more common and widespread due to these storms. A couple embedded tornadoes appear possible too. The MCS likely departs our area early Friday morning.
Mother’s day weekend looks pleasant. Sunshine returns with cooler temperatures and lower humidity Friday. Temperatures warm into the low 80s during the afternoon. Friday night looks cooler, with lows in the low 50s. Saturday and Sunday look partly cloudy with highs in the low 80s. Lows fall into the 50s each night. Next week looks unsettled with daily chances for showers and storms.
