Groundbreaking ceremony set for the new Pike Road High School
A groundbreaking ceremony has been set for the new Pike Road High School.
Pike Road Schools tells Action 8 News that the ceremony will take place on Thursday, May 23 at 5:30 p.m. on Wallahatchie Road across from the water tower.
The 200,000 square feet of planned space will be located on 73 acres of land and will feature more than 55 classrooms, career tech center with STEM labs, state of the art science labs, two gyms and much more.
Once the new high school opens, the current Georgia Washington campus, which houses both the high school and junior high campuses, will become Pike Road Junior High.
In October 2021, residents in the Town of Pike Road narrowly approved a property tax increase that would fund the new school.
The public is invited to attend.
