Groundbreaking held for new Pike Road High School
Ground has officially been broken for the new Pike Road High School.
A ceremony was held late Thursday afternoon at the site of the new school on Wallahatchie Road.
The 200,000 square feet of planned space will be located on 73 acres of land and will feature more than 55 classrooms, career tech center with STEM labs, state of the art science labs, two gyms and much more.
Once the new high school opens, the current Georgia Washington campus, which houses both the high school and junior high campuses, will become Pike Road Junior High.
“It’s a step forward, another step forward, in Pike Road, Alabama,” said Pike Road Mayor Gordon Stone. “We are honored to be blessed with a lot of milestones. This one will be a milestone because it shows that we’re committed to our future leaders. These young folks are gonna take this town to unimaginable heights and we’re so excited to be able to invest in them.”
Officials expect the school to be completed by August 2026.
