It is a bittersweet time for those of us at WAKA Action 8. Our former home on Eastern Boulevard in Montgomery is being torn down.
The TV station moved from these studios to our new home on Harrison Road in 2013, which gave us more room to produce news in HD with three studios, three control rooms and a cutting-edge digital newsroom.
Still, it’s sad to see the old building come down. It opened in 1985 when WAKA moved from Selma to Montgomery.

We have several people still on staff who remember moving into the building when it was new nearly 40 years ago.
The building had been used for storage over the past decade. The property was recently sold and the new owner plans to develop it.
