Construction of four-lane highway project could benefit Linden
From the West Alabama Newsroom…
The historic construction of a north-south corridor in west Alabama is making significant progress. And it has Linden city officials excited about what it’ll mean for the city.
Linden Mayor Gwendolyn Rogers — says she expects the long-awaited project — to provide a boost to the city’s economy.
The West Alabama Corridor project — is a project to four-lane a portion of U-S Highway 43 — from Thomasville — to Tuscaloosa County.
The Linden Bypass, part of the first phase of the project, is currently under construction.
Rogers says the four-lane highway will bring economic development — and jobs.
“We’re going to have a chance for additional revenue. A chance for industry to come into our industrial park because of course the highway is going to run right through our industrial park,” said Rogers.
“I thinks it’s going to help us and improve us. And help us to revitalize our town.”
The West Alabama Corridor project was made possible with funding through the Rebuild Alabama Act.
The project is also expected to improve highway safety.
