Former Andalusia High School Boy’s Basketball Coach Marcus Mickles has been named the next Boy’s Basketball Coach at Pike Road. Mickles was the head coach at Andalusia for three seasons and he also served as an assistant football coach during his time there.

Before coaching at Andalusia, Mickles was the head boys basketball coach for five seasons at Greenville High School and also spent one season coaching the girls team.

Mickles explains that he is excited for the opportunity to make the jump up to coaching in the 6A ranks.

“I’ve always either been in 4A or 5A basketball for the most part.  You know moving up to 6A, we always played a challenging schedule, so it’s nothing new playing against those teams. Just competing though against those teams day in and day out and having the opportunity to play against the Big Dogs as they call them,” says Mickles.

And while Mickles will bring his own unique coaching style to Pike Road, he does look to continue cultivating a winning culture.

“Just understanding that we’re playing for championships and the standard. The goal is all one, just competing at a high level and being able to you know put our student athletes out there and give them the best opportunity to be successful,” says Mickles.
