Pike Road Schools teachers prepare for upcoming school year
Pike Road Schools welcomed back teachers for their first day back at work last Thursday.
The system held its PRS Institute at Vaughn Forest Church.
Superintendent Dr. Keith Lankford says the purpose of the institute is to inspire faculty and staff to get ready for the upcoming school year.
“It’s so important to bring them together simply because we do not operate in silos,” said Dr. Lankford. “We operate as one school system and that’s what we really want everybody to understand. Everyone plays a part in the development of a child and so it’s not just a first grader in elementary school. We’re all together as the high school, the middle school, the intermediate and the elementary, along with the central office. It’s just so important to understand that we are one Pike Road.”
This year is also special for the system as it marks 10 years since the system was created.
Pike Road Schools started its operation in 2015 with a K-8 school, then added a grade level each other. The high school held its first graduating class on June 6, 2020.
Students are heading back to class on Thursday.
