Sixteen year old Selma teen left brain dead after shooting
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
Selma Police are investigating a shooting that has left after a 16 year old juvenile — brain-dead.
Police Chief Kenta Fulford says the shooting happened at around 9:40 pm Wednesday night — on the 2900 block of Citizens Parkway.
“Upon arrival they made contact with a 16 year old juvenile who suffered a gunshot wound to the head. He was then transported to Vaughn ER where he was put on a helicopter and airlifted to UAB Hospital,” said Fulford.
Initially, Fulford confirmed the teen’s death — but later said the teen was brain dead as a result of his injuries.
He says detectives continue to investigate.
“Right now we do not have any suspects or do we know what the motive is at this time. But the detectives are out at this time now canvassing the area looking for people. Hopefully, someone will come forth and let us know if they saw anything,” Fulford said.
