Local scams are on the rise with people trying their best to tug at the heart strings of unsuspecting people all in an attempt to steal money. There are ways that you can protect yourself and it starts with being aware.
Scammers are sending fake messages from familiar accounts via Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, CashApp and on social media in general. In the past these posers were easy to spot and weed out, now they have more details into your personal lives and habits. Scammers study your profiles, get to know the people you know then reach out to them using personal information that they have learned from your profiles.
Some scammers are even going as far as calling via social media. Be aware. Ask questions with answers that can’t bee found on social media, set up. a safe word with. your close friends and family, don’t send money and contact your law enforcement whenever there is any doubt.
