From the West Alabama Newsroom–

But now the museum is at risk — of closing it’s doors.Waka Nvrmclosed0905 Pkg

Co-founder Hank Sanders says the museum is in bad financial shape.

“If we don’t do something then the National Voting Rights Museum will no longer be in existence. It’s just fallen on hard time,” he said.

Sanders says the museum has also had its heating and air conditioning unit stolen.

In addition, the man who took care of the day to day operations at the museum, Sam Walker, recently had a stroke.

The museum’s Board of Directors have started a go-fund-me account to try and raise $100,000 dollars.
