MPS CSFO to take on new position with the state

The Chief Schools Financial Officer with Montgomery Public Schools will soon take on a new role.

The Alabama State Department of Education Board voted to approve Arthur Watts as the new Deputy State Superintendent of Education for Administration and Finance.

MPS Superintendent Dr. Melvin J. Brown released this statement to Action 8 News:

“I am thrilled to congratulate our Chief School Financial Officer (CSFO), Mr. Arthur Watts, on receiving an outstanding job offer from the Alabama State Department of Education. This new opportunity is a testament to his exceptional skills, dedication, and unwavering commitment to excellence in financial stewardship and the students of MPS.

Throughout his tenure with our district, Mr. Watts has played a pivotal role in ensuring the fiscal health and stability of our district. His departure leaves a significant void, and it will not be easy to find someone who can match his expertise and dedication. However, we are confident that he will continue to be a strong advocate for our school system. “

Watts will start his new role with ALSDE on November 1.
