Autauga County Schools hold first community meeting on proposed ad valorem tax increase

Autauga County Schools held its first community meeting Monday on a proposed ad valorem tax increase.

The meeting took place at Autaugaville Community School in Autaugaville.

Residents in Autauga County will soon vote on the ad valorem tax increase that is said to add an additional $7 million annually to the school district’s local funds.

The increase would be roughly $70 per year for every $100,000 of the estimated home value. For example, a $300,000 home would have an estimated increase of $210 per year.

School leaders say if the vote fails, it would mean budget cuts starting in the 2025-2026 school year.

If you missed Monday’s meeting, the system plans to have four more over the next few weeks.
