Montgomery Cancer Center unveils mobile screening unit

The Montgomery Cancer Center is bringing healthcare to those who may not be able to make the trip to the Capital City.

A ribbon cutting was held Wednesday for a new state-of-the-art mammography unit called HOPE.

HOPE, which stands for Health, Outreach, Prevention and Education, will take enhanced cancer screening technology, education and awareness on the road throughout Central Alabama.

HOPE will debut at the Macon County Prostate Cancer Awareness Car and Bike Show this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Tuskegee Square.

Below are current locations and a few special events that are open to the public. Patients should call Montgomery Breast Center at 334.387.1120 to request an appointment on JOY-the Mobile Mammography Unit at a specific location.

  • 1st Tuesday – Rural Health Medical Program – Pine Apple
  • 1st Wednesday – Barbour County Health Department (Clayton)
  • 1st Thursday – Lowndes County Health Department (Hayneville)
  • 2nd Tuesday – Crenshaw County Health Department (Luverne)
  • 2nd Thursday – Butler County Health Department (Greenville)
  • 2nd Friday – Cahaba Medical Care – Marion
  • 3rd Tuesday – Quality of Life – Tuskegee
  • 3rd Thursday – Rural Health Medical Program – Selma
  • Last Tuesday – Bullock County Hospital (Union Springs)
