Local business owners collect essential items to send to Hurricane Helene victims in North Carolina

Here in Central Alabama several local businesses are pitching in to collect much needed essentials and supplies to send to areas hit hardest by Hurricane Helene. Saturday morning Trotman Brother’s Roofing & Construction teamed up with Bill Bishop to collect essential items including water, non-perishable foods, and hygiene products in the parking lot of the Pike Road Town Hall. Dozens of generous people dropped off donations that will be packed into an 18 wheeler and driven to North Carolina next Saturday, October 12th.

“It just starts with one person taking a step forward. You know, everybody always wants to do something, but nobody ever takes that step, and Bill was the one that took the step. He put it out there that he would take a trailer to North Carolina, and so that’s all it takes is one person to take that first step and then it just escalates from there,” said Andrew Trotman.

“I just like to tell people, you know, look at those pictures and think about if that was you, and I think that’s all you need to say. Just look at that, these are real people, real situations and well, we need to act,” said Bill Bishop.

And if you missed the chance to donate Saturday, it isn’t too late! Donations will be collected throughout the week at the Pike Road Town Hall Monday through Thursday from 8-5 and Friday from 8-12. You can also email Andrew Trotman at andrew@trotmanbrothers.com for more information.
