Selma residents react to icy temperatures and snow flurries

The arctic blast of winter weather has nearly shut-down the city of Selma.

Waka Wxreax0121 Fox PkgCity and county government as well as schools were closed today — due to the threat of snow — and below freezing temperatures.

The wintery weather conditions have made it dangerous for people to be outside for long periods of time.

“You know it’s just something we don’t see very regularly here, you know how it is down here in the South. You know, it don’t take much for us to kind of — for the businesses and things to shut down,” said Joe Brown.

Bosco Nutrition Center — the Winston Williams homeless shelter — and Gospel Tabernacle Church are all serving as warming stations for the next few days.
