Ribbon cut on new Prattville Kindergarten School
Most schools have kindergarten classes, but in Prattville, an entire school is made up of kindergarten students!
The idea is nothing new in Prattville, but the school building is.
Thursday, the ribbon was cut for Prattville’s new kindergarten school. It replaces the old school building in downtown that was more than 100 years old.
The new building on ABC Street, just off McQueen Smith Road, includes 32 classrooms and has 600 students. Each classroom has a smart board and has technology features designed especially for younger students.
“This is really really really a dream,” principal Jodi Womble told Action 8 News. “I never thought I would see this day come and it is here and I could not be more excited for these deserving teachers and staff to have to have a great place to offer an education for our students and our students get to come every day to thrive and learn.”
“It’s been a total team effort,” Autauga County School Supt. Lyman Woodfin said. “I’m really proud of everyone. I’m really excited to see what this does for us moving forward in terms of community excitement and also recruitment of kids. We want kids wanting to come to our schools.”
While the ribbon-cutting was Thursday, the students actually began to take classes in the new school last week.
