Woman dies in Montgomery house fire

23fatalfireA house fire in Montgomery has claimed the life of a woman.

Firefighters were called around 11:00 p.m. Thursday to the 6900 block of Sandfield Drive on a possible structure fire.

Once they arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames showing from a single story home.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control.

During the primary search, a 60-year-old woman was found.

The unidentified woman was treated on the scene before taking to Baptist East where she later died. 

There were no reports of any exposure problems nor any injuries to firefighters or other civilians.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
