Pike Road Kiwanis Club awards $8,000 in college scholarships

The Kiwanis Club of Pike Road has awarded $8,000 in college scholarships to four area students.
Club President Steve Straughn announced the recipients at the Pike Road Town Council meeting last night. Each student received $2,000.
The recipients were:
- Addison Little, Macon East Academy, – will attend Chattahoochee Valley Community College
- Abigail Lugo Wenceslao, Pike Road High School – will attend the University of South Alabama
- Regan Frazer, Macon East Academy – will attend LaGrange College
- Sophia Bishop, Pike Road High School – will attend the University of North Alabama
The $8,000 in scholarship for 2025 graduating seniors brought the total scholarships given by the club to $27,000 in four years.
The club raises scholarship money by holding its 5K Family Fun Run in the spring and selling Christmas ornaments in the fall. The ornaments feature historic sites in Pike Road, Straughn said.
