Sprinturf funds Reeltown football’s state title rings

A turf manufacturing company donated nearly $10,000 to fund state championship rings for a local high school football team.

Sprinturf, based in Charleston, S.C., funded the rings for the Reeltown High School football team after the Rebels won the 2A state championship this fall — their first title since 2009.

The donation came after several Rebels parents who work at Sprinturf’s manufacturing facility in Dadeville reached out to the company.

“They’re very close in proximity to the plant, and we really wanted to give back to the community,” said David Jackson, Sprinturf Dadeville plant manager. “It’s something that we want to reward.”

Johnson said it was special seeing the athletes receive their rings.

“It was heartwarming, it was nice to see them. It’s a memory that those kids are always going to have,” Jackson said. “It’s something that they’re going to show off. I know me coming up, being around guys that won state championships was always something that they had a lot of pride in. So it’s nice to be able to give that to those kids.”

The company’s donation covered rings for players, coaches and supporters, eliminating the financial worry that often accompanies championship memorabilia.

With the new season beginning in less than three months, the Rebels will have another chance to earn championship rings this year.
