Montgomery 10U baseball team wins DYB World Series title

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — A group of 10-year-old baseball players from Montgomery are World Series champions after defeating teams from 12 other states to bring home the title to Alabama.

Team Alabama clinched the championship with a game-winning catch in Lexington, South Carolina, edging out Team Texas 2-1 in the final matchup.

The Southeastern Montgomery 10U all-stars represented Alabama from Aug. 1-6 in the 70th Annual Diamond Youth World Series. Earlier this summer, the team went undefeated in the state championship tournament at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, outscoring their opponents 97-16.

Team members are William Abt, Jeb Barganier, Grant Colvin, Mason Crowder, Walker Dees, John Gray Farrior, Greer Murphy, Crews Owens, Landon Palmer, Phelps Reid, Wills Rudder and Charlie Ware.

The team was coached by Robbie Abt, Jonathan Barganier and Coleman Farrior.
