CAMPAIGN 2026: Former District 1 Congressman Jerry Carl wants to return to Capitol Hill after losing his seat last year.

You may remember Carl lost his seat when Congressman Barry Moore beat him last November. It was an unusual situation in that two Republican Congressmen were battling over one seat.

That was due to redistricting. Moore, who is from Enterprise, had been in District 2, which was moved into District 1. Carl, who is from Mobile, was already representing District 1.

Moore is now running for U..S Senate, hoping to replace Tommy Tuberville, who is giving up that seat to run for governor.

District 1 includes Covington County, and goes from the Wiregrass of southeast Alabama all the way west to the Alabama Gulf Coast.

The primaries are May 19, 2026.
