What the Tech App of the Day: Nugs
By JAMIE TUCKER Consumer Technology Reporter
Nothing beats a live show. The energy, the sound, the crowd. You can’t get that from Spotify or Apple Music. But another app gives you a front-row seat.
Nugs started as a way for jam bands to share their concerts with fans. Today, it’s one of the largest online collections of live music recordings anywhere.
You can browse live shows from artists like Pearl Jam, Metallica, Springsteen, and Bill Strings. Many of the concerts are available just after the band leaves the stage, and some are even streamed live.
Unlike traditional music streaming services, these aren’t polished studio albums. You get the real thing: crowd noise, extended solos, surprise guest artists, and all the other surprises. And the quality is surprisingly good, shot and produced by the band’s production crew. Like this recent show by Billy Strings.
Subscriptions start at $15 a month just for the audio. To listen and watch shows, you’ll pay $20-$26 a month. Still, that’s cheaper than parking for a concert.
For super fans, it’s a great way to hear every stop on a tour, no matter where you live.
