Auburn police have arrested a man for burglary and lying to police.

Officials say on September 20, officers responded to an attempted burglary near the 2900 block of Sandhill Road.

Once they arrived, the victim told officers that a suspect forced a door open to make entry into the home while the victim was inside.

The suspect fled on foot when he realized someone was at home.

The officers located the suspect walking near the victim’s home a short time after the crime occurred.

28-year-old Kendavious Lamarcus Williams, of Auburn, was taken into custody. Officials say he initially gave the officers a false name

Williams is charged with 2nd degree attempted burglary and giving a false name to a law enforcement officer.

He was taken to the Lee County Jail and held on a $4,000 bond.
