One Dead, Five Injured in Montgomery Shootings Over Weekend
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — A violent weekend in the capital city left one person dead and five others injured in a series of shootings, according to the Montgomery Police Department.
The latest shooting was reported around 1 a.m. Sunday in the 2400 block of East South Boulevard. Officers found a man and a woman with life-threatening gunshot wounds and another woman with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to Montgomery police. All three victims were taken to a local hospital.
A few hours earlier, around 10:43 p.m. Saturday, an adult man arrived at a local hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Investigators determined the shooting occurred in the 5500 block of Atlanta Highway. Police have not released any information on suspects.
The weekend violence began Friday. Around 7 p.m., officers responded to a shooting in the 500 block of Stone Street, off Rosa Parks Avenue, where an adult woman was fatally shot. Police have not released her name.
Earlier that day, around 2:30 a.m., a young woman was shot in the 500 block of Centennial Way. Her injuries were not life-threatening, police said, and she was taken to a local hospital.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the shootings to call CrimeStoppers at 215-STOP.
