World War II veteran from Montgomery celebrates 100th birthday
A World War II veteran in Montgomery has celebrated his 100th birthday.
Robert Harper was born on December 18, 1925. He was married to his wife for 68 and-a-half years before she passed away in 2019.
Harper is a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force. Besides serving in World War II, he also was in the Korean War and Vietnam.
After his service, he worked for Winn-Dixie driving trucks.
He celebrated his birthday yesterday at Rehab First Capitol Hill.
“God has been so great,” Harper told Action 8 News.
“He has had such an impact in my life. He has pulled me out of some dark places just through his relationship with our Lord and Savior,” Harper’s daughter Telissa Harper said. “He led me back to church, my relationship with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as well, so yeah he has been there. A father. A friend. Confidant. Everything that you could want or ask him for in a father, that’s him.”
Harper has three daughters, plus grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great grandchildren.. Harper says it is his strong faith in Jesus Christ that helped him live this long.
