YMCA Opens Registration for Stride for Kids Race and Spring Soccer

The YMCA of Greater Montgomery is launching a busy spring season with youth soccer programs and a community race aimed at keeping recreation accessible for families.

The organization’s 13th annual Stride for Kids Race is set for April 11, 2026, and will include a 5K and a one-mile fun run. Registration is open for the fundraising event, which supports YMCA programs throughout the area.

Participants will receive finisher medals, race shirts with registration and the chance to compete for awards in 28 categories, including the top three male and female finishers in each age group.

In addition to the race, the YMCA Soccer Complex is offering TOPsoccer, a program designed for children and teens with disabilities. The program is provided at no cost to participants.

Spring soccer registration is also open for Alabama FC South Spring Outdoor Soccer and recreational leagues for boys and girls ages 7 to 15. The season begins March 23, and families can sign up online at ymcamontgomery.org.

Manny Sanchez, vice president of community initiatives and soccer development for the YMCA of Greater Montgomery, said the organization is focused on creating opportunities for families to get involved in healthy, active programs this spring. Sanchez recently spoke with Action 8’s Estee Morrison about the upcoming events.
